Description
The Meta Smeltery offers a unique method for converting ore into ingots using logs and oxygen as fuel. It features seven levels: Crumbling Smeltery, Barely Functioning Smeltery, Run-Down Smeltery, Somewhat Functioning Smeltery, Oiled Smeltery, Efficient Smeltery, and Supremely Efficient Smeltery. Each level enhances various attributes, including efficiency, fuel efficiency, columns, rows, capacity, heat capacity, output speed, input weight, output weight, and maximum heat. Each ore has specific requirements for melting, while each log provides a temperature and heat rating. To view these details, simply hover your mouse over any ore or log.
Getting Started
To craft the smeltery, purchase the "Making Valuables with Stonecrafting" book, along with a mallet and chisel from a stonecrafter located in all major cities. Once you have the book and know the crafting recipe, use the mallet and chisel to create a smeltery frame. You'll need a minimum of 60 carpentry skill and 10 stones to get started. After crafting the smeltery frame, place it in your home and start building! Click once on the mallet and chisel, then select "Use on Object." Target the smeltery frame, and you'll see rocks flying as you progress. Once your smeltery is built, it’s time to create an ingot cast. For this, you'll need 1,000 ingots and a minimum blacksmithing skill of 80. You can then apply this in the top left menu by selecting "Add Cast."
Leveling Up the Meta Smeltery
Now that you’ve completed the initial steps of building the smeltery, it’s time to level it up. To do this, double-click the smeltery to open the smeltery menu (ensure you're using the Experimental Client). At the base of the smeltery, you’ll find two boxes: “Smeltery Input,” where you’ll place your fuel and ore, and “Smeltery Output,” where your finished products will be sent. For a level 1 smeltery, the maximum heat is 1,000°. A regular log provides 1,000° and has a heat rating of 1. Iron ore also requires 1,000° and consumes 1 heat rating. Start by adding these items to the Smeltery Input box to initiate the smelting process and accumulate experience, as shown in the "XP" bar at the bottom of the smeltery menu.
Upgrading
To upgrade the smeltery, you first need to completely fill the XP bar at the bottom of the smeltery. Once you’ve done that, start the upgrade by clicking on the mallet and chisel, then select "Use on Object." Next, target the smeltery. Please note that upgrading will require stones.
Oxygen
Oxygen can be obtained by defeating air elementals. These bottles of air serve as a fuel, raising the temperature by 500 degrees. However, using this item will result in a heat loss of 1000, though you will regain 200 in return.
Interactive options
Add Items to Smelt: This will place your ore in the smeltery to begin the process. Add Fuel: Selecting this option lets you choose any log or oxygen from your backpack. Add Cast: This allows you to select your cast and apply it to the smeltery. Change Resource: You can add multiple ores to the tank, which is also how you craft alloys. By choosing this option, you can decide which ores will be turned into ingots. Dump Fuel: This will remove all fuel from inside the smeltery. Dump Tank: This will empty all accumulated ore from the tank.
