Description
The Fishing skill has many facets aside from simply fishing. Fishing off of coasts or docks will allow you to catch fish and various types of footwear. Although not very profitable, raw fishsteaks can be used to level Cooking. Once you've reached 75-100 fishing you are able to start fishing in deep waters and have a chance to get some awesome rewards from Whirlpools, Special Fishing Nets and Message in a Bottle.
With Power Scrolls you can raise your fishing up to 120. The benefits of higher fishing include:
- Increased likelihood to pull up sea serpents and therefore greater chance of Treasure Map, Message in a Bottle and nets
- After 115+ Fishing, you have a chance to pull Osiredon when pulling up a Message in a Bottle
- Higher chance of pulling loot at a Whirlpool
In the Naval Warfare Reborn expansion, fishing became more useful with the Whirlpools that were added.
Usage
Fishing couldn't be simpler. Grab a fishing pole, double click it and target the water. You can fish in any open sea, even from guard zones and docks. Wait until you've either failed or caught a fish and cast again. At some point, fish will stop biting in your area and you will be informed. Move a few tiles away and cast in another area. This makes it difficult to macro but is still possible since the biting fish will refresh at some point.
Using an exceptional fishing rod will improve your chance of pulling up serpents. Using a bent rod will pull up Message in a Bottle treasure chests without first hauling up a mountain of old boots.

Recommended Leveling
- 0-50: Buy from NPC Fisher
- 50-100: Fish off of a dock, a few tiles from the shore. As your skill rises, fish a little bit further and further out.
- 85-100+: Deep sea fishing may help with gains. This requires a boat.
